Flower Garden

(A Rispetto Poem)

Just take me to a garden,

Where the pretty flowers grow,

As all those colors beckon,

In a dazzling floral  show.

And let me sit amongst them

To see each petal and stem,

On a lovely marble bench.

What memories they’ll entrench.

Author Notes

Inspired by Adewpearl’s poem today and this picture.

This poem is a Rispetto.

A Rispetto is a n Italian poetic format consisting of two quatrains with a changing rhyme scheme. In the first quatrain is abab rhyming. In the second is aabb rhyming.

For this poem I chose the syllable count to be 7.

The author took this picture at Lake Harriet Rose Garden in Minneapolis.
