Cleansing Rain

Lightning

Cleansing Rain

 .

 .

Thunder boomed and lightning flashed

On my snowy roof last night.

The gods of Spring and Winter clashed,

Locked in their seasonal fight.

 .

As ice retreated from the roof.

Winter’s grit was washed away.

Piles of snow, once stood aloof,

Now are tiny spots of grey.

 .

Yellow grass is showing through,

Song birds have begun to sing.

Rain showers arrived anew,

Now, I feel the breath of Spring
