Rabbit Noise

Brown bunny

Rabbit Noise
(A Noise Nonsense Poem)
.
.

A frog’s throaty croak has caught the note of many folk

While a duck’s plaintive quack might make you look back

When hyena’s laugh broke, it really wasn’t a joke

And snorts of a bull yak means it’s about to attack

.
But what noise does a rabbit make?

.
A friendly cow may say “moo”, and owls may ask you “hoo?”.

A lamb will go “baa”, while crows give an annoying “caw”.

The lion in the zoo just might loudly growl at you

Eagle’s eerie shriek is raw, a donkey says “heehaw”

.
But what noise does a rabbit make?

.
Lonely calling of the loon, serene in wild lagoon

Horse’s neighing sounds aloof as it’s pawing its hoof,

Wolf is howling at the moon, got “uh uh” from baboon

I hear excited dog’s “woof”, rooster crows on my roof

.
But what noise does a rabbit make?

.
Goose may honk if its zone usurped, baby birdies chirp

A newborn chick may “peep”, whales sing songs in ocean’s deep

I heard the baby burp and my little brother slurp

I groan while counting sheep, grandpa’s snoring in his sleep

.
But what noise does a rabbit make?

.
Noise is all around the block. Then there’s a ticking clock.

If a bunny could talk, it might say, “Ah, what’s up doc?”

.

Author Notes

To really understand the Muse for this poem you’d have to go to uTube and look up – “What Does a Fox Say?”. I’d attach it, but I don’t know how. I couldn’t decide how to categorize this – Humor or Children’s Poem. Went with humor.

This poem is simply abab rhyming quatrains with refrain and closing couplet. The syllable count is 13.

This is the author’s own photograph.
