Spare the Rod (Momisms)

“Spare the Rod, Spoil the Child”

.

.

That’s what my Mom used to say.

Of course, things were different in those days.

.

We kids learned not to tattle,

Or else, mom might get out the paddle.

.

We really learned to dread,

When, “Wait ‘til your dad gets home!” was said.

.

Discipline was really dealt,

When our Dad had to lay on that belt.

.

At our chores we toiled,

And  most definitely, we weren’t spoiled!

.

You might think it was perverse,

But the olden days were even worse
