WINTER SONG

Cardinal in Tree

Winter Song

.

I woke up this morning

With icicles forming,

To a powdery drive.

The brisk air was alive!

.

The snow glittered away,

A bright sparkling day.

As I shoveled the snow

A bird put on a show!

.

I heard it chirp.

 I heard it sing,

And that was everything!

.

A red cardinal sang.

The sweet notes really rang,

Echoing off the ground,

Came its clear fluted sound.

As it broke into song,

Had to whistle along.

.

I heard it chirp.

 I heard it sing.

And that was everything!

.

So sing in the trees!

Let it float on the breeze!

As the notes reach the sky,

Hear his song! Let it fly!

.

As this beautiful bird,

I so gratefully heard,

With that voice I adore,

Was right out my front door.

.

I heard it chirp.

 I heard it sing.

And that was everything!

.
