Evening Prayer

With setting sun, Earth sings its evening prayers

All living things give blessings for the day

As nightingales break out their song in pairs

The flowers stretch to drink the last sunrays

.

As dusk creeps in the worship soon begins,

With setting sun, Earth sings its evening prayers,

And crickets play their leggy violins,

God’s creatures pause, relieving daily cares.

.

The eagles soar, to float on evening airs.

The waterfowl seek quiet place to rest.

With setting sun, Earth sings its evening prayers

Before the world may best lay down to rest.

.

All gather now, with sunlight nearly gone,

On fragile sphere each organism shares.

They feel the natural cycle moving on.

With setting sun, Earth sings its evening prayers.
