Pumpkin Princess

Pumpkin Princess

(7-5 Quatrains with Envoi)

Pumpkin Princess

Your face is such a vision!
Stopped me in my tracks.
Not quite what I’d envision.
Your plain beauty lacks
a classical precision.
Fallen through the cracks.

I found your vision stunning:
eyes with such a bloom,
that button nose was running,
hair you need to groom.
Your kisses I’ll be shunning,
When lumpy lips loom.

Sorry my pumpkin princess.
You’re just not my type.
The thought gives me the winces.
Think you’re overripe.

Author Notes
What more can I say! She’s just not a classic beauty. Although, her eyes are beautiful.
This is another of the scarecrows on exhibit at the Minnesota Arboretum in October.

The poem consists of two Sestets (6 line poems) with a 7-5 meter. It is followed by a quatrain closing Envoi of the same meter. The rhyme scheme is: abab

This photograph was taken by the author at the Arboretum located in Chanhassen, Minnesota on October 27, 2014.
